CHAPTER 631 FEELIIIIIIINGS

First off, can I just say how IT MAKES ME IMMENSELY HAPPY just to see these three standing together again. Okay a period isn’t gonna cut it. IMMENSELY HAPPY!!!!!!!!!! After all these years, after hundreds of chapters, FINALLY. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!! But more on that later!

OKAY WHERE DO I START WITH EVERYTHING ELSE

So it starts with badassery care of Minato, which is always welcome in my book

And then he gets all daddy mode and asks if Sakura is Naruto’s girlfriend HAHAH

I kind of wanted to punch Naruto when he said yeah, Sakura pretty much is his girlfriend, after Hinata was willing to DIE FOR HIM and she helped him stand back up and fight when he was about to give in to Obito’s words, not to mention all that other stuff from the Pain arc. Not that I am like, hardcore NaruHina but y’know, BE A LITTLE SENSITIVE, NARUTO. HINATA CAN HEAR YOU.

Now, a lot of people ask me if I support NaruHina or NaruSaku. Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t feel like it’s for me to decide, and whatever justifications I make aren’t gonna change Naruto’s (or Kishimoto’s, heheh) mind so I’m just looking forward to seeing how things will play out and I think I’ll be happy as long as Naruto is happy!

The scene was unexpected humor on the battlefield, but it was really cute how Sakura got angry and Minato thought she reminded him of Kushina. MINATO AND KUSHINA 5EVER THAT’S MY OTP

And after that cute little scene, BAM! First, Second and Third Hokage arrive! Everyone’s freaking out but no one is more excited than MADARA!

He was already crazy-faced with anticipation from a couple of chapters ago, then his long-time rival is finally before his eyes! He yells a drawn out, “HASHIRAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU” and he’s met with, “I’LL DEAL WITH YOU LATER!”

His face of disappointment was PRECIOUS ( and looked particularly ridiculous because of the Rinnegan and the fact that his maniacal smile was frozen in place). And I say this about the guy who has been scaring the crap out of everyone since he arrived.

Just when I thought that Naruto may have surpassed his father, Minato goes into Biju mode WHOAAAAA. He is too cool. Even Kurama was fanboying over him. While the former Hokages restrain the Ten-Tails, in prances comes…

SASUKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

So Sasuke finally arrives at the battlefield without the Starbucks, and while he is no longer angry, it looks like his penchant for drama has not left him. Their former classmates rush over apprehend him and he stops them in their tracks by declaring “I WILL BECOME HOKAGE”

SASUKE SON YOU IS CRAZYYYYYYYYY I CAN’T EVEN HANDLE YOU HAHAHAHAHA

So okay after laughing for a bit (everyone’s reactions did not help) I continued to read on, and Sasuke acknowledges he can’t deny what he has done in the past, but he doesn’t care what everyone thinks of him. He wants to honor his brother’s memory the best way he knows how, and he feels like becoming Hokage is the way to do it. He wants to change the system that caused his beloved brother so much suffering.

On the topic of Sasuke’s general change of heart and how people are complaining it happened “too fast”, someone on Tumblr encapsulates how I feel about it (though this was written based on the chapter 3 weeks ago) — Read it here!

I must say though, Sasuke wanting to be Hokage surprised me. I chat with a friend after every chapter to discuss what happened and come up with theories, and when Sasuke decided to protect Konoha a few weeks ago, we were wondering what would lead to the inevitable Naruto vs. Sasuke showdown if they’re fighting on the same side now.

We had touched on the topic of the reason for the battle being fighting for the title of Hokage but we didn’t think it would really make sense. After Sasuke listened to Hashirama’s account of the history of Konoha and how Madara’s twisted sense of rivalry had led to the fall of Uchiha, we thought Sasuke would have no interest in chasing after the title of Hokage himself. Because that would be repeating history, with him being the new Madara.

WHY MUST YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME WANT TO STRANGLEHUG YOU, SASUKE. I’M GLAD YOU’RE BACK AND YOU’RE GOOD NOW BUT YOU KEEP MISSING THE POINT.

Hashirama breaks the tension by saying “I’M HAPPY WE HAVE SO MANY HOKAGE CANDIDATES, BUT HI WE’RE TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF THE TEN-TAILS OVER HERE. BESIDES YOU ARE BOTH STILL GENIN”

Naruto and Sasuke head over to the frontlines, and are soon joined by Sakura. She tells them not to forget she is also a member of Team 7 and a disciple of one of the Legendary Sannin, then hints about being able to use her “real power” soon. I do appreciate her attitude here! We haven’t really seen Sakura badassery since her fight with Sasori, and it’s about time she steps up again. Whether or not she will live up to her words, we have yet to see but I look forward to it!

And then the last frame is the one on top of my post. It’s already been a day but it still brings me so much FEELINGS every time I look at it. Sakura looks onward while holding back a little smile, obviously happy that the three of them are standing together again. Naruto is more fired up than ever, now that the person they’ve been chasing after all these years is back on their side. Sasuke looks fiercely determined, but with an aura of peacefulness.

EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS
